Car-pedestrian accident closes Highway 99 Sunday night

The roadblock at Highway 99 and 238th Street Sunday night.

Edmonds police blocked off Highway 99 north and southbound between 236th and 238th Streets while they investigated a car-pedestrian collision that occurred Sunday evening.

According to Sgt. Don Anderson, the victim “has serious injuries but is alive.”

Leslie Hynes, spokesperson for Snohomish County Fire District No. 1, said that firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 9:03 p.m. after receiving a report of a man laying in the street. “When firefighters arrived, they learned that the 33-year-old man had been struck by a car,” Hynes said. Paramedics transported him to Harborview Medical Center with injuries that were considered life-threatening.

    The man was not 33 he was 23.
