Meadowdale downs Franklin to earn 5th place trophy at state

Meadowdale’s boys basketball team defeated defending state 3A champion Franklin 66-55 to take fifth place in the state 3A basketball tournament in the Tacoma Dome Saturday. Casey Hamlett led the Mavericks with 33 points and 10 rebounds.

Sam Werner added 13 for Meadowdale, which led 33-25 at halftime. The Mavericks were sixth-place finishers at state last year.
