Ever wanted to learn how to swing? As in swing dancing, that is.
The Edmonds-Woodway High School Music Boosters are sponsoring a four-lesson series of swing lessons starting Tuesday, April 20 in the high school’s Great Hall.
The lessons will be provided by DANCE IT!, and will run from 2-3:30 p.m. on April 20, 27, May 4 and May 13. This event culminates in a Big Swing Dance on Saturday, May 15, in the gym, featuring the EWHS Jazz I and II, Madrona K-8, College Place Middle School and Maplewood jazz bands. Admission to the dance will be $10, but students taking the lesson series will be admitted free.
To sign up for dance lessons, bring a $20 check made out to Music Boosters on the first day (April 20). More information will be covered at that first session.
And here’s even more good news for jazz enthusiasts: On Thursday, April 15, from 7-9 p.m., the high school’s Jazz I & II bands will be putting on an additional dance in the high school’s Great Hall. This is a fundraiser for EWHS Jazz Band’s trip to the Essentially Ellington contest in New York City in May, and the cost is just $7 per person.
