It’s not too late for golfers to sign up for the Fire 1 Foundation Charity Golf Tournament that will be held June 11 at Echo Falls Golf Club south of Snohomish.
Registration is open through May 21. Sponsored by the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 1997 and Flooring Solutions, the tournament will benefit the Fire 1 Foundation. The nonprofit organization was founded by employees of Snohomish County Fire District 1 to support fire department activities and community service programs. Fire 1 Foundation projects include:
– The Good Neighbor Fund: Fire District 1 has long recognized that some situations require something other than a hose line or bandage. The Good Neighbor Fund provides funding for firefighters to help citizens in need: groceries for a single mom, gas for a stranded motorist or some other need they observe in the course of doing their jobs.
– The successful taxi voucher programs: firefighters can distribute vouchers for a free taxi ride for patients transported to the hospital who don’t have any other way to get home.
– Support for community service programs such as holiday food drives.
– Scholarships for fire service technology students.
The tournament entry fee is $400 for a foursome (or $100 for an individual) and includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, dinner and prize drawings. Sign-in begins at 11:43 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. The awards dinner and auction with no-host bar begins at 6:30 p.m. For non-golfers, the cost to attend the dinner and auction is $35.
Forms for registration, sponsorship and auction donations are available on the Fire 1 Foundation page at www.firedistrict1.org. For more information contact Leslie Hynes at (425) 551-1243 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fire District 1 is the largest provider of fire and emergency medical services in the county, serving more than 225,000 residents in unincorporated communities; the cities of Brier, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace; and the town of Woodway.
