Mariner came out with a strong second half and defeated Edmonds-Woodway 35-21 in Wesco South football action Friday night at the Marauders’ Goddard Stadium.

The Warriors were led by running back Zack Berg’s 170 yards and one touchdown and quarterback Tyler Brudevold’s 16-for-26 performance for 200 yards and two TDs.  E-W also got an outstanding first-half performance from tight end Robbie Willcock, who caught 18-yard and 7-yard scoring passes from Brudevold.

While E-W led 21-14 at halftime, they couldn’t contain a stellar second-half performance by Mariner running back/defensive back KeiVarae Russell, who rushed for 285 yards including two touchdowns, and even threw a TD pass.

Meanwhile, at Edmonds Stadium, Meadowdale beat Mountlake Terrace 16-7, led by Brian Marty’s three field goals. Nathan Ball threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Michael Dever in the first quarter for the other Mavericks’ score. Mountlake Terrace got on the board in the third quarter, when DeVante Downs had a 2-yard run for the Hawks.
