    Dozens of dogs in costume are expected at today's Halloween Howl at Edmonds dog beach.

    Bring your pooch to the Off-Leash Area Edmonds Dog Beach today for the annual Halloween Howl, featuring a dog costume contest, silent auction and raffle, and pet-friendly vendor booths. The event runs from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the dog beach, located at 498 Admiral Way, with the costume contest beginning at 1 p.m. And remember to save your dog’s costumer for next weekend’s Doggie Dress Up contest, being sponsored byMy Edmonds News and the Posh Pooch . The contest runs from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Posh Pooch, 22805 100th Ave. W., and is open to all. The grand prize? A day of free doggie day care.

    – Community meeting on Proposition 1, which would add $40 to the $20 fee now assessed on all vehicles registered in Edmonds to fund city  street-improvement projects, from 11 a.m.-noon at the Edmonds Yacht Club, 326 Admiral Way.

    – Complimentary wine tasting, 1-4:30pm, Arista Wine Cellars, Italian Piemonte Tasting, 320 5th Ave. S.

    – Willow Creek Hatchery/Edmonds Native Plant & Wildlife Habitat Demonstration Garden Mulching Party from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Join Sound Stewards in helping to apply mulch on new native plants in for the winter. The garden is located at 85 Pine St.

    And tonight is the last evening to see Edmonds’ playwright Jeff Stillwell’s dramatic comedy, “A Dropped Stitch,” the story of a woman who struggles to free herself from her mother’s fears to become the artist she has always dreamed of.
