Lady Warriors down Shorecrest 70-58 in preseason opener

After a slow start in the first half, Edmonds-Woodway’ girls basketball team came away with a solid 70-58 win over Shorecrest in a non-league season opener at home Tuesday night.

Angela Woods scored 21 points — 11 of those in the third quarter — for the Lady Warriors, and Madeline Kasper added 19, including five 3-pointers. Four of Kasper’s 3′s came in the second quarter, which contributed to E-W’s narrow 30-28 lead at halftime.

Next, the Warriors travel to Beaverton, Ore., to participate in the Nike Northwest Invitational tournament, opening against Clackamas High School Thursday night.
