Now that the holidays are over, it appears that people have some bills to pay off, as we saw numerous reports of purses stolen from cars, credit card thefts and stolen checks. Among the crimes reported to Edmonds police in recent weeks:
21400 block of Highway 99: A male entered a gas station and took a stack of Scratch lottery tickets. An employee followed the suspect, who then assaulted the employee, dropped most of the tickets and fled the scene.
23600 block of Highway 99: A female was arrested for shoplifting at Safeway.
21200 block 82nd Place Southwest:Police found a man sleeping inside a newly constructed house at 2:03 p.m.
23600 block of Highway 99: Two teenage girls were arrested for shoplifting at Safeway.
Three incidents of purses being stolen from vehicles. In two cases – in the 18000 block of 73rd Avenue West and the 23300 96th Avenue West, the cars were unlocked. In the third case — in the 21200 block of 82nd Place West — the vehicle was broken into.
And speaking of the holidays, we should mention that there were two reports of police being called to large underage drinking parties — one at 11:59 p.m. New Year’s Eve and the other at 2:31 a.m. New Year’s Day — in which the adult hosts of said parties were charged with furnishing liquor to minors.
