Pharmacy robbery forces lockdown at three Edmonds-area schools

Thanks to Mike Murphy at Lynnwood Today, who covered this story as it transitioned between Edmonds and Lynnwood.

A robbery at Edmonds Pharmacy forced the lockdown of three nearby schools this morning.

Officials locked down Edmonds-Woodway High School and College Place Middle and Elementary schools at about 11:15 a.m. while police searched for the suspect. Edmonds-Woodway is directly across 212th Street SW from Edmonds Pharmacy.

The lockdown was lifted about 30 minutes later.

“During the lockdown, our students behaved well, stayed calm, and wanted to share with you that I am pleased with how they conducted themselves,” said Thea Gardner, principal at College Place Middle School.

No word yet if a suspect was arrested.

  1. This pharmacy was robbed Dec 3, 2010, Dec 31, 2010. and Jan 24, 2011. I expect that this has the attention of the Edmonds Police.

  2. It sure does have the attention of the Edmonds Police. This is actually the 4th time that same pharmacy was robbed. From what I understand, it is the same guy every time, or at least the robber has the same M.O. every time.

The first 3 robberies were done on the same PD shift, so all of those guys weren’t happy that it was done 3 times during their shift. Don’t know about the 4th.

I’m hoping they catch him soon, since I live around the corner.

  3. The rumor I have from my son a EW student is the guy ran through their outdoor court yard through the student parking lot then across the street to Stevens Hospital in their front then out the ER door in the back and has done this a few times. So maybe in a way the students at EW know his route and maybe the resource officer has placed enough value in this that next time it may happen dispatch may send a couple cars to some key areas.

  4. i have a child at college place elementary and the 2nd graders hid under their desks. i dont why the edmonds police dept. cant catch this dude.

  5. I think that pharmacy’s get robbed more than we know. This one received more attention because the 3 schools in the neighborhood were locked down. The last time it was robbed, several months ago, was after school hours and not much was said about it. It has nothing to do with the students, it’s just an easy mark.

I did learn a new word in all of this but don’t know when I will use it in a sentence.
