Not only is the weather looking good for Friday (high of 70 degrees predicted!), it is also Bike to Work Day. Starting at 6 a.m., the Edmonds Bicycle Advocacy Group will be on hand near the Edmonds ferry terminal to welcome riders who have decided to commute by bike.
“This will be especially convenient for cyclists coming through town on the ferry and cyclists taking the Sounder Commuter Rail,” said Bicycle Advocacy Group member Reid Larson.
The group will have a booth — courtesy of Just Frogs & Toads Too — in the parking lot of the Vatika Restaurant, where they will be raffling a free bike donated by Harvy’s Bike Shop in Lynnwood. A bike mechanic, courtesy of Bicycles West, will be in the booth, and the group will hand out bicycling maps and related information. Edmonds PCC Natural Markets is providing refreshments while the downtown Edmonds Starbucks is supplying hot coffee.
People who are considering biking to work are encouraged to stop by, even if they can’t bike on Friday. The group also welcomes anyone interested in information about bicycling in the greater Edmonds area.
