Snohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 351 calls the week of July 7-13: 280 emergency medical aid calls, 16 fires, 25 motor vehicle collisions, nine service calls, 17 automatic fire alarms, one natural gas leak, two carbon monoxide alarms and one water rescue. The following calls were in or near Edmonds:
COLLISION. At 3:15 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a one-car collision at 220th Street Southwest and 78th Place West in Edmonds.
WATER RESCUE. At 11:43 p.m., two women in a canoe capsized in Lake Serene north of Lynnwood. Both women were out of the water when firefighters arrived. No one was injured.
COLLISION. At 12:17 p.m., a pickup truck and a car collided on northbound I-5 near Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
COLLISION. At 12:21 p.m., two cars collided in the 23200 block of Edmonds Way in Edmonds. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
ARSON. At 5:47 p.m., neighbors reported smoke coming from an abandoned house in the 23700 block of 29th Avenue West in Brier. The house had been boarded up since 2009 when it was heavily damaged by a fire that displaced a family of six. Firefighters forced open the front door and quickly extinguished a fire in the garage. No one was injured. The incident is being investigated as arson.
BRUSH FIRE. At 7:40 a.m., firefighters responded to a brush fire in the 21700 block of 66th Avenue West in Mountlake Terrace.
COLLISION. At 2:10 p.m., two cars collided in the 7200 block of Ballinger Way in Edmonds. Firefighters transported two patients to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
