Edmonds School Board Director District 3 candidate Gary Noble

Gary Noble

As part of our continuing Election 2011 coverage, My Edmonds News presents statements submitted by candidates for the Edmonds School Board, District 3.

I am currently Vice President and am past President of the Edmonds School Board, and I have the knowledge, experience and leadership to continue to represent the people in this district and their children.

I am proud of what the Board and District have recently accomplished:

– We have academic success with test scores that exceed state averages. We have also significantly increased our graduation rates.

– We continue to modernize our schools with new state-of-the-art Lynnwood High and Meadowdale Middle schools.  Our decision to lease the old Lynnwood High site for commercial development will bring in millions of dollars per year for capital improvements and will significantly reduce the requirements to ask voters for money to upgrade our existing schools.

– We have maintained financial integrity and have continued to provide an excellent education program in spite of nearly $30 million in reductions in state and federal funding over the last few years.

My ongoing priorities are continuing to improve student achievement, retaining the best teachers and staff by providing increased support and training and emphasizing shared decision-making, and continued financial integrity.

I have 25 years experience with the District ranging from PTA officer and middle school math tutor to being on the Instructional Council at Lynnwood High and on the District’s Citizen Planning Committee, and of course eight years’ experience on the School Board. I also have nearly 40 years of engineering and management experience and a broad range of community involvement.
