An Edmonds man died Monday afternoon in a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 90 outside of Ellensburg, the Washington State Patrol said.
Tyler W. Young, 26, was headed westbound on I-90 11 miles west of Ellensburg just after 1 p.m. when the 1994 Toyota pickup he was driving veered off the freeway to the left, corrected right and struck a 2000 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 15-year-old Gold Bar boy. Young’s truck continued across both lanes of traffic to the right and rolled over, coming to rest on its wheels. Young, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to the Ellensburg airport and flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died.
The driver of the 4Runner, who had an instructional permit and was accompanied by an adult passenger, wasn’t injured.
Drugs or alcohol use may have been a factor in the accident, which the State Patrol is investigating.
