It’s not too late to get your exercise for the day and support a great cause. Sign up for the Bill Hamilton Street Strut 5K and 1K run/walk, happening this Saturday, Oct. 8 at Edmonds Civic Field (6th & Bell), presented by the Edmonds Public Schools Foundation.
You can register at Running In Motion, 401 Main St. in downtown Edmonds, or online. Cost is $35 for adults, $15 for youth ages 9-18. New this year is a 1K Kids’ Fun Run for ages 8 and under, with registration costing $5.
The Kids’ 1K starts at 8:40 a.m., while the 5K starts at 9 a.m. Early packet pick-up is Friday, Oct. 7, from 3-7 p.m. at Running in Motion. Day of race packet pick-up is at 7:45 a.m.
This year’s Street Strut is honoring beloved Madrona P.E. teacher, GayLynne Ullerich, a devoted champion of kids’ health and fitness who died in a tragic car accident last winter. The Street Strut is the official kick-off for “MOVE 60,” a newly-funded Edmonds School District program that encourages kids to get 60 minutes of exercise every day, all thanks to a grant from the South Snohomish County Commission for Health.
