New energy, new guest artists and new choreography are on tap when Edmonds’ Olympic Ballet Theatre opens the 2011 season of “The Nutcracker” Sunday, Dec. 4 in Arlington. Three performances are scheduled in Edmonds Dec. 17-18.
Olympic Ballet Theatre’s “The Nutcracker” has been a family favorite in Puget Sound for 30 years, but has been re-energized with new Directors Mara Vinson and Oleg Gorboulev, former Pacific Northwest Ballet principal and soloist, respectively, leading the way.
– Byrnes Performing Arts Center in Arlington on Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.
– Everett Performing Arts Center Dec. 10 at 2 and 7 p.m. , and Dec. 11 at 2 p.m.
– Edmonds Center for the Arts Dec. 17 at 2 and 7 p.m., and Dec. 18 at 3 p.m.
Ticket prices are $20 for children 10 and under, $25 for students through high school and seniors, and $30 for adults at all venues. Service fees may apply.

Olympic Ballet Theatre’s season of productions continue in February 2012, as the company performs with the Cascade Symphony Orchestra in “Peter and the Wolf. ” Highlights from “The Sleeping Beauty” and a new work, “Griffes,” with live musical accompaniment by Seattle Chamber Players, is coming in April
with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
