Reminders from Edmonds School District: No school Wednesday-Friday AND emergency weather info

The Edmonds School District reminds parents that in addition to the traditional no-school days for Thanksgiving weekend this Thursday and Friday, there will also be no school Wednesday. That’s because it’s an unpaid furlough day for teachers, a result of continued state funding reductions. Schools will reopen on Monday, Nov. 28.

In addition, the district has released and posted information on snow school bus routes. All elementary and middle school students should be bringing home a copy of the salmon-colored 2011-12 Emergency Weather Notice Tuesday and high schools are emailing the PDF to families. The notice contains school-specific snow bus routes, and snow bus routes are posted by school online.

Two additional key reminders from the school district regarding weather:
– The decision to have a two-hour late start or to close schools due to inclement weather “is made with student, family and staff safety as the priority consideration district wide. Weather conditions can vary greatly across the 35-square miles of the district, which serves the communities of Brier, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Woodway, and unincorporated portions of south Snohomish County.”
– Days lost to closure must be made up and will change the last day of school. The designated snow make-up days are June 21, 22, 25, 26 and 27. Parents are asked to keep those dates in mind when they make their end-of-the-school-year plans, “in the event your child will need to attend school on any of those days.”
