In the end, it was the running game that came through for the E-W Warriors Friday night, as they defeated South Kitsap High School 29-19 at home to move to the next round of the 4A high school football playoffs next weekend. The Warriors will play No. 1-ranked Bellarmine Prep of Tacoma, in Tacoma. The day and time of that match-up have not yet been announced, but we know it will be either Friday or
Saturday. We’ll update the story with those details when we learn more.
The Warriors had 382 rushing yards Friday night, with the 275 of those coming from junior running back Desmond Young, who also scored two touchdowns. Senior Mark Coutee, who along with Young make up what the Warriors have defined as their “two-headed monster,” added 71 yards on 14 carries.
Edmonds-Woodway is now 6-4 on the season.
