Heidi Medina Miller 1956-2012

Heidi Medina Miller, long-time resident of Edmonds, passed away early on Saturday, Feb. 25 at her home after a two-year struggle with cancer. Her husband of 24 years, Mike Miller, was at her side.

Heidi was born on July 25, 1956 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, and at the age of four moved with her family to Edmonds. She grew up in a charming log home on acreage near Lake Ballinger, complete with horses, chickens, cats and every variety of wild creature at her doorstep. She graduated from Woodway High School and attended classes at Shoreline Community College before beginning her education in real estate, which would take her to a lifelong career.

Heidi has touched so many lives in Edmonds and neighboring communities, having been real estate guru to hundreds of clients and customers during her 35-year career as broker. She began real estate in the 1970s as an agent under the expert tutelage of her mother, Muryl Medina, who was the owner/broker of Realty House. For many years, this small office operated from the second floor of the historic Beeson Building on Main Street, downtown Edmonds. When Muryl retired, closing her office, Heidi joined the firm of Joan Longstaff, enjoying several years of great affiliation, and then moved to Windermere Real Estate in Edmonds. She made a final move to Windermere Real Estate/Alderwood during the last and final years, retiring in 2011.

In addition to her substantial expertise in real estate, Heidi was an avid skier and golfer, an exceptional cook and confirmed gardening enthusiast. She loved traveling, from bareboat sailing adventures in tropical climes, to forays into France, Italy and England. She was in her element exploring the charming gardens of the Cotswolds and joining French chefs in private cooking experiences. Her home and garden reflected her joy in myriads of flowers , fruits and vegetables.

Heidi is survived by her husband, Mike Miller, by her mother, Muryl Medina of Edmonds, her sisters, Rebecca Adams of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and Katherine Hendrickson of Edmonds, along with her niece, Rachel Buchan of Kirkland and nephew, Anthony Medina of Shoreline. Brothers-in-law Rick Miller and family reside in Orlando, and Tom Miller and family in Brier. Her family and close friends were with her during her final week.

Heidi was a loving wife, friend and counselor to hundreds, a champion of the underdog, and protector of all creatures great and small. In lieu of flowers or other condolences, her wish is that donations be made to PAWS/Lynnwood for the benefit of the animals she cared about so dearly.

This lovely lady will be missed by all who have known her and been blessed by her kindness and beauty. Happy Trails, Heidi. We love you.

  1. This is very sad news! My wife (Shirley) and I had gotten to know Heidi while she was marketing different buildings constructed by Rob Michel, who built our condo. We soon learned that she was a very knowledgeable professional, as well as always being pleasant and congenial.

Heidi is a big loss; she will be greatly missed by the real estate industry in addition to her family and friends who are in our prayers.
