Robber strikes new Edmonds Key Bank branch

Hours after the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce ribbon was cut for the new Key Bank Branch in the Westgate neighborhood Monday, the branch was robbed. Here’s the news release just provided by the Edmonds Police Department:
On Monday, October 22, 2012, at 2:37 p.m. Edmonds Police responded to a bank robbery at Key Bank, 9930 Edmonds Way. The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 30 years of age, 5’09” tall, thin build wearing a gray and green beanie-type cap, an olive green sweater, and baggy blue jeans. The robber implied that he was armed with a handgun. The suspect fled from the bank on foot.
Edmonds Police with the assistance of a Lynnwood Police K-9 Unit conducted a search of the surrounding area. As a precaution, Westgate and Sherwood Elementary Schools as well as Scriber Lake High School were placed in lockdown. All three schools resumed regular activities at 3:10 p.m.
No one was injured during the crime.
