Noted chef raves about Edmonds’ Highway 99 restaurant finds

Our resident Highway 99 neighborhood booster Jim Underhill shares that The Seattle Times (an online news partner of My Edmonds News) on Friday had a story with all kinds of local connections. First, it’s written by Seattle Times food writer (and Edmonds resident) Nancy Leson and second, it includes recommendations from noted Tom Douglas Restaurants sous-chef Nathan Crave, who raves about BCD Tofu House at 22511 Highway 99.

From the Times article about BCD Tofu House:

“It’s the secret gem,” Crave says over lunch. “It’s near my house, it’s rarely full and the ladies who work here are beyond nice.” BCD is also open from 9 a.m. till 3 a.m. — 24 hours Fridays and Saturdays — making this a great place to show up, whatever the hour, with a posse of hungry co-workers. “First they say, ‘I’m not driving to Edmonds!’, but once they eat here, they can’t wait to come back.”

Crave also raves about T&T Seafood (next to BCD) as a great family-friendly restaurant. Here’s the link to Leson’s interview with Crave, which also list some of his other nearby favorite food haunts, including San Fernando Roasted Chicken in Lynnwood (20815 67th Ave. W.), where he gets the salchipapas — sliced, deep-fried hot dogs rings tossed with French fries and served with ketchup, mustard and cilantro mayo.
