Dancers from the Edmonds-based Barclay Shelton Dance Center experienced a special treat Saturday:  a two-hour “master class” from three members of the award-winning dance troupe Pilobolus. The Connecticut-based troupe, known for “its imaginative and athletic exploration of creative collaboration,” was in Edmonds Saturday for a sold-out Saturday night performance at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.

Troupe members Shawn Ahern, Benjamin Colter and Nile Russell took time out prior to the performance  to work with the Barclay Shelton dancers, ranging in age from 14-30 and mostly from Edmonds and Shoreline.  Barclay Shelton director Leanne Shelton was thrilled with the experience. “It’s such a good opportunity for us,” she said.

  1. This is the most amazing dance troupe. For them to come to ECA is amazing. Plus, their working with local dancers just adds to the experience.
I am so greatful to the ECA for bringing them here..

  2. We at ECA were thrilled to be able to bring Pilobolus to the stage, and into the Barclay Shelton Dance Centre studio for this master class. Special thanks to the three members of the troupe who led the class, to our staff members Jamie, Kris and Lisa who helped coordinate the experience, and to Steve and Leanne Shelton for their partnership. And thanks to Teresa W. for taking time to come and see the workshop! It was a great day.
