Northwest Junior Pipe Band fundraiser this Saturday

The Northwest Junior Pipe Band, Washington’s only competition-based youth pipe band, is presenting a dinner concert fundraiser “Soaring Over Scotland” at the Historic Flight Foundation, Paine Field, 5:30 -10 p.m., this Saturday, May 11.

The event will feature bagpipes, drums, highland dancers, vintage aircraft, dinner by Edmonds’ Chef Dane, and silent and live auction items that include rides on World War II bombers – and it all supports the Northwest Junior Pipe Band.

Now in its 18th year, the Pipe Band has more than 20 members playing in the band and another dozen in the Pipe Band School.  Three of the members are from Edmonds, representing Edmonds-Woodway High School and College Place Middle School. Members ranging in age from 8 to 18 compete in Scottish Highland Games in British Columbia, Washington and Oregon, perform at a wide array of parades, memorial services, and festivals throughout Puget Sound and will return to Scotland to compete in the World Piping Championships in August 2014.

Ticket information is available at www.nwjpb.org  or by calling 206-852-8500.
