Firefighters extinguish blaze in dumpster outside Edmonds-Woodway HS Thursday night
Fire District 1 firefighters Thursday night were dispatched to a fire in a large commercial dumpster next to the Edmonds-Woodway High School loading dock, according to Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes.
Firefighters were notified at 10:14 p.m. of a sprinkler water flow alarm and upon arriving discovered the fire in the dumpster located on the west side of the high school. “The sprinkler head above the dumpster had activated and did exactly what it was supposed to do: kept the fire from spreading to the building,” Hynes said. Firefighters used water from the fire engine to extinguish the fire, which was contained to the dumpster.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
