Burglar who caused schools’ lockdown apprehended
For those who were wondering what the commotion was about on 168th Street Southwest near Meadowdale High School Tuesday afternoon: According to Lynnwood police, just after 1:30 p.m., an unknown male entered an occupied residence at 5500 168th St. S.W. in Lynnwood. The homeowner had a brief confrontation with the subject and then left the home.
The man ignored repeated attempts of communication by police and remained in the home until approximately 5 p.m., when “he was finally extricated without injury or incident,” police said in a news release. Prior to being apprehended, the man had entered the garage and loaded the victim’s car with items belonging to the victim. The man is now in custody, and detectives are continuing to investigate.
The incident caused a lockdown at Meadowdale Elementary, Meadowdale Middle, Meadowdale High and Beverly Elementary schools. Traffic had also been rerouted in the area during the afternoon.
