A baby Harbor Seal hauled itself out at Brackett’s Landing on Thursday afternoon, and attracted a lot of attention…too much attention in this case. The Edmonds Seal Sitters remind everyone to stay at least 100 yards away from these animals both on the beach and in the water. Seals, whales and other marine mammals are under Federal protection as specified in the Marine Mammals Protection Act. Violators are subject to fines of up to $100,000, imprisonment of up to one year, or both. (Photos by Larry Vogel)
The Seal Sitters soon arrived and cordoned off the area around the seal pup. This photo was taken from a safe distance with a long telephoto lens.
