Warriors Fall Sports Preview: Girls Soccer
Years as head coach?
Last year’s record?
Postseason last year?
Went to district playoffs.
Top returning athletes, top newcomers?
We graduated four and return the bulk of last year’s team. We have some holes to fill with the graduating class but I believe that we have some players that will fill in nicely. We had an injury to one of our starting center midfielders, which is a loss, but we have some good depth and we will try a couple new faces there. We were pretty fortunate to see a few players to receive all-conference honors and will look to them to help lead the squad.
Strengths of the team?
I really like the team and feel that they are much better bonded than in the previous couple years. I am hopeful that will lead to success on and off the field.
Strong teams/individuals in the league?
The South division is going to be a bit tough win but I do believe we have a chance to be up there at the end of the season. I think that Jackson and Kamiak are going to be the toughest teams in the division with Cascade right behind them. Last year we started off very well and struggled down the stretch a little bit. I am hopeful that we can be consistent and in the end be looking at a position in the postseason.
The Warriors start their season Tuesday night, Sept. 10, vs. Mariner in an away game at Goddard Stadium. On Thursday, they host Cascade at home. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
