Welcome new advertiser, Bodyworks Pilates
My Edmonds News extends a warm welcome to Bodyworks Pilates, where owner Shar Kellett says about her program: “it’s not just about exercise, it is about investing in yourself.”
The studio is hosting an open house on Thursday, Sept. 26 with special offers for those attending. You can also take advantage of the Bodyworks Pilates special now available on Edmonds Deals: Four private Pilates sessions for the price of three.
According to Kellet, Pilates is a controlled system of exercises that engages the mind and conditions the total body. It was started as a rehabilitation program for dancers in the 1920s in New York City by Joseph Pilates.
Bodyworks Pilates has a much different client base, she notes. “I don’t have a lot of ballet dancers. I have real people walking through my door. Many of them are in their 40s, 50s, 60s and my oldest is 80! Most have some issues in their bodies that need work.”
Kellet describes Pilates as “a balanced blend of strength and flexibility training that improves posture, reduces stress and works several muscle groups simultaneously.” Those who will benefit, she says, include “fitness-minded athletes, seniors, pre/post natal mothers, those with chronic back pain, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and those who are rehabbing an injury, and everyone in between.”
Bodyworks Pilates studio is small, intimate and a relaxing atmosphere that schedules just one client at a time, creating individualized programs according to their needs and abilities. “Sometimes I will add in yoga, barre work, weight work in addition to specialized exercises on the Pilates apparatus,” she said. “This is not about being a size 2. It’s about feeling better in your body from the inside out.”
