‘Coffee with Harry’ to begin Thursday
A slight hiccup in the schedule means that “Coffee with Harry” will begin this Thursday rather than Wednesday as originally announced.
The initial coffee of the 2013 election season will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday with current Councilmember Strom Peterson and his challenger, Alvin Rutledge. This is an opportunity for any local citizen to sit down with the two opposing candidates and ask any question you may have about their vision for Edmonds, their background and their thoughts on any of the many issues facing our city.
The coffees are held at Chanterelle Restaurant, 316 Main St. Chanterelle provides free regular coffee and a nice place to meet. Feel free to get a fancy coffee or something to eat, but that will be on your own dime.
Discussion rules are that you can ask anything you want, but you must give the candidate the opportunity to respond without interruptions. If everyone shows a measure of courtesy we should have a very informative session.
Take this opportunity, available only in Edmonds, to meet and question the people who want to run your city.
Thursday afternoon, we will have another coffee, this time with incumbent Councilmember Kristiana Johnson and challenger Randy Hayden. The second coffee begins at 3:30 p.m., and follows the same rules, but allows you the opportunity to sample Chanterelle’s new “Happy Hour” menu.
Chanterelle has been hosting these coffees for the past several years. The events have been fun, informal ways to gain knowledge about candidates and issues.
Recaps of the discussions will be posted in My Edmonds News by the weekend.
The final coffee with Councilmember Adrienne Fraley-Monillas and challenger Ron Wambolt is being rescheduled for next week. When schedules align, we will post details on that coffee.
