‘Coffee with Harry’ returns this week
My Edmonds News‘ “Coffee with Harry” series will return this coming week.
The coffee will offer concerned citizens the opportunity to meet with Edmonds City Council candidates. Chanterelle Restaurant, 316 Main St., has again offered to host these get-togethers.
The coffees are held in an open format for candidates for each position, so they can sit down and answer citizens’ questions. Chanterelle provides free regular coffee and the meeting place. If you want to snack or have a fancy coffee, that will be on your own dime.
The coffees last between 60 and 90 minutes and provide a rare opportunity to meet the candidates. Basic ground rules are that you are allowed to ask any question you want, but everyone needs to allow the candidates to answer without interruption and there should be no personal attacks. The questions should be limited to issues and/or candidates’ backgrounds.
We have had some great discussions with these coffees in the past and look forward to a good informational exchange this week.
The tentative schedule is Wednesday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. with Ron Wambolt and Adrienne Fraley-Monillas; Thursday morning from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. with Strom Peterson and Alvin Rutledge; and Thursday afternoon from 3:30 until 4:45 p.m. with Kristiana Johnson and Randy Hayden. For those who are interested, the afternoon session will allow people to try Chanterelle’s new “Happy Hour” menu.
Check back on My Edmonds News in the next few days for any schedule adjustments, as we are still hammering out the details.
It is only in a town like Edmonds were normal citizens can have the opportunity to meet with candidates and ask questions and this informal setting. Take advantage of it and join us.
