Edmonds Center for the Arts extends gratitude for Red Carpet Gala success
Edmonds Center for the Arts and the Edmonds Public Facilities District Boards of Directors extended a thank you Friday to sponsors, donors, Board members, guests, friends, community members, volunteers and ECA staff for their support of the Red Carpet Gala. “It was moving to see such passion and enthusiasm in the room and to see how far this event has come since it began in 2007,” said Joe Mclalwain, Executive Director of Edmonds Center for the Arts, in the ECA announcement.
The Sept. 28 gala raised $330,000, which will support the organization’s programs and operations. ECA offers a varied selection of performers from around the world, as well as education and outreach programs for all ages.
Auctioneer John Curley and Emcee Josh Kerns led the live auction, which featured nearly 29 items and experiences, including the coveted Patrons Instant Wine Cellar. The auction was chaired by Karen Duff Jacobsen, and Mike Meeks served as Procurement & Sponsorship Chair.

The evening featured wine provided by David and Ruth Arista of Arista Wine Cellars, and food from Chef Shubert Ho of Shooby Doo Catering/Bar Dojo. Table centerpieces were created by Mari and Jan Schultz, and entertainment was provided by Enrique Henao, John McCormick (guitar) and Myrnie Van Kempen (violin). Also returning this year was the ECA Brew Crew, powered by Gallagher’s Where-U-Brew.
The Red Carpet Gala Committee was led by Mike Meeks, Procurement and Sponsorship Chair, and included Greg Hoff, Janet Laffitte, Alan Lawrence, Maggie Peterson, Sally Ralston, Teresa Simanton, Terry Vehrs and Dexter Wellington. ECA Board Member Nancy Fleck was the Dessert Dash Coordinator.
