The Global Affairs Center at Shoreline Community College, directed by Edmonds resident Larry Fuell, is sponsoring the second in the series of conversation about the worldview of people in other countries.
Derek Norberg, Executive Director, Russian American Pacific Partnership (RAPP), will speak on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. on the Shoreline College campus, in PUB 9208, when the subject will be the worldview of Russia. The Consul-General of the Russian Federation in Seattle has also been invited to participate.
Oct. 24 also happens to be UN day, and during the afternoon two speakers from the UNA-USA of Seattle and Bellevue College will discuss “The Role of the United Nations in Resolving International Conflict.” This discussion will take place at 12:30 p.m. in Room 1402.
The premise of these discussions is that the world is increasingly shaped by people and governments with different experiences, facing different circumstances, and holding different ideas than our own about modernity, democracy, and security, among other ideas. The events are free and open to the public. Additional details on both events can be found at www.shoreline.edu/gac/.
