Hear loud noises near Madrona K-8 Thursday? Civil war re-enactors at work
If you heard some loud noises near Madrona K-8 School in Edmonds Thursday, there was a good reason. The school received a visit from a group of Civil War re-enactors — their fourth visit in eight years — which involved the use of gun powder — but no ammunition — in demonstrating canon use.
And if you wondered about the bayonets involved in the re-enactment, and whether that would violate the Edmonds School District’s no-weapons rule, the answer is no because the event is educational, said Edmonds School District spokeswoman D.J. Jakala. “The bayonets are strictly on display and not used by the re-enactors when they march,” she said.
