Sister City Street banner in place for Hekinan Delegation cultural fair
Anticipating the Oct. 29 arrival of the 37-member delegation from Edmonds Sister City of Hekinan, Japan, a banner announcing a Cultural Fair of Japanese and American performances on Oct. 30 has made its first appearance in Edmonds. The banner can be seen at 8th and Caspers, and will be moving to various locations throughout Edmonds until the delegation departs.
In honor of the 25th anniversary of Edmonds’ Sister City connection to Hekinan, the two cities are marking the milestone with reciprocal visits. The first was the Mayor’s Delegation to Hekinan in April 2013. The second is the Hekinan Delegation visit from Oct. 29-Nov.4.
The Sister City Community Cultural Fair, to be held at the Edmonds Center for the Arts from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 30, is free to the public. It will feature Japanese and American performances and a photo exhibition by award-winning Hekinan photographer Kiyotaka Sugiura, along with interactive cultural presentations in the lobby.
