Starting next Tuesday, Nov. 26, military funeral honors will be offered the last Tuesday of each month at the Edmonds Cemetery, located at 820 15th St. SW. The ceremony will be performed at 10 a.m.

These honors are available to surviving family members of deceased veterans who, at the time of their death, were not afforded such a ceremony. Working with the 81st Brigade Special Forces Troops Brigade Battalion of the Washington State National Guard and the Honor Guard of VFW Post 1040 in Lynnwood, Cemetery Sexton Cliff Edwards will prepare the cemetery grounds to accommodate family members. The honors are available to Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard active duty, reserve and former active duty veterans who were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable.

Members of the 81st Brigade will perform a flag folding ceremony and present an American flag to surviving family members. The Honor Guard from VFW Post 1040 will perform a 21-gun salute and a member of the post will play Taps.

To request these honors or learn more, visit the Washington Army National Guard website or by call 877-306-1953.
