Edmonds police and Fire District 1 responded Saturday morning to a one-car injury collision in the 1000 block of Puget Drive around 7:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The crash investigation, centered on the yard of the home where the car landed, blocked the roadway between Olympic View Drive and Olympic Avenue.

According to Edmonds Police Spokesman Sgt. Mark Marsh, the driver was taken to Harborview Medical Center for examination. “Injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening,” Marsh said. The cause of the accident is not yet known, he added.

Officers at the scene found pieces of the car 9 feet up in the tree just to the right of where the car came to rest, said Larry Vogel, who was on the scene for My Edmonds News. “One officer observed that there’s not a single salvageable piece of the car remaining…it’s a total wreck in the fullest sense!” Vogel said.

Early reports indicate the car came speeding down Puget Drive and the driver lost control at approximately the intersection of Puget and Olympic Avenue, swerved to the right, overcompensated to the left, and ended up removing some landscaping and finally coming to rest by a tree at the edge of the driveway, located next to the Edmonds Elementary School playfield. The accident was reported at 7:28 a.m.
