Those doing last-minute Christmas shopping at Alderwood Mall Tuesday were faced with an unexpected challenge, as Alderwood Mall Boulevard was closed between 33rd Avenue West and 40th Avenue West in Lynnwood, due to a collapsed sewer.

Detours were established via 40th Ave West and 188th Street Southwest, but drivers experienced delays.

Crews are working to fix the problem, however the boulevard may remain closed for a day or more, the city said.

  1. How odd. I was just near there (by Virginia Mason) and the traffic along the west side of the mall was the best it has been in several days. Guess I must have hit it just right!
