Two Edmonds School District students win state honor; will meet President Obama
The Edmonds School District announced Monday that both students selected in Washington state this year to receive a Hearst Scholarship are from the Edmonds District.
The top award for writing is only given to two students – one male and one female – annually. Mitchell Wahlmeier from Edmonds-Woodway High and Will Khadivi from Mountlake Terrace High attended summer leadership camp where they had the opportunity to write essays to submit for a Hearst Scholarship. Out of the six camps held across the state, both were selected for the state award.
Wahlmeier and Khadivi will fly to Washington D.C. in March, when they will spend a week touring the city and will receive their awards from President Obama.
