From the Driftwood Players: The value of community partnerships
The following article by Kathleen Huston is from the Jan. 20 Driftwood Players blog:
Partnering with local businesses is important to any nonprofit, and especially important to any arts organization. So when Howard Chermak offered to provide a bid for the roof replacement at the Wade James Theater, I was more than happy to “talk about it”.
What I did not know is that Howard Chermak would then offer to give the Edmonds Driftwood Players a $10,000 donation to use toward the cost of the roof replacement.
Chermak also offered to give us a 10 year guarantee on labor for the roof replacement work.
Yes, we had a handful of cost proposals to compare, but Chermak was adding things to their comprehensive proposal that clearly indicated they wanted to be a Community Partner, not just a one-time vendor.
Chermak also sent their own electrical expert over to the theater to fix issues we were having inside the theater. And this work was offered to us free of charge.
It has really been an easy task to work with Chad and everyone at Chermak. And best of all, I can pop into their office over on Edmonds Way if I need to drop off or pick up anything…like gutter color swatches.
Thank you Chermak and Howard for really “making a difference” for us. Our home at the Wade James Theater is looking so much better!
