With each New Year, common resolutions include eating healthier, exercising regularly and living a stress-free life. These life choices allow for a healthier you, including your skin. Achieving radiant skin is a result of a few simple choices in your everyday life.

This year, you can achieve glowing, healthy skin by pairing a basic daily skincare regimen and these three healthy lifestyle choices:

Healthy food choices: Keep your skin looking healthy and young by introducing foods into your diet that are high in the following nutrients:

  • Antioxidants are nutrients that can help repair damage to your body’s tissue by preventing the effect of free radicals. Vitamins A, C and E are very helpful to the skin, which is constantly regrowing cells. This could be helpful in an anti-aging regimen. Antioxidant-rich foods include: blackberries, blueberries, strawberries and plums.
  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids are essential for youthful skin by healing the skin from the inside out. Omega 3 can be found in salmon, walnuts and flax seed.
  • Hydrate with eight glasses of water, and green tea, which acts as an anti-inflammatory

Exercise: Exercise increases blood flow to your skin cells, which helps cleanse your skin from the inside out, causing your pores to open and release toxins. Your best bet for keeping your pores clean and unclogged is to always wash your face and body as soon as possible after sweating.

De-stress: What do you do to de-stress? Chronic stressors can physically affect your skin by increasing inflammation and can worsen pre-existing skin problems such as acne breakouts, psoriasis and rosacea. Effective stress reducers include yoga, meditation, going for a walk and deep breathing exercises.

This year, let your diet help brighten your complexion, exercise to promote healthy circulation, and relax to help heal inflamed skin. Let your New Year resolutions work in your favor to achieve glowing, healthy skin year round.
