College Goal Washington will be hosting a free financial aid workshop for students and their parents on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Edmonds Community College.
The workshop will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in Mountlake Terrace Hall Rooms 210 and 212 at Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood.
College Goal Sunday is all about helping students file the FAFSA, the form that is required to apply for federal financial assistance for higher education, and better understand the steps they need to take to get cash for college. At these events, students will receive one-on-one support from trained volunteers and financial aid questions.
Filling out the FAFSA doesn’t obligate students to anything. Whether they choose a traditional college, community college, vocational or technical school, College Goal Washington can help them get money for higher education.
To take full advantage of the events, students should come prepared with questions about FAFSA. A list of what to bring can be found here and people are encourage to register, though it is not required.
Many higher education students receive financial aid. Sixty-three percent of college and university students receive an average of $7,400 a year to help pay for college.
