Edmonds-Woodway’s boys basketball team outscored visiting Lake Stevens 25-10 in the first quarter on their way to a 75-38 victory over the Vikings. A refreshed Jason Smarr scored 12 points in the opening frame and fellow senior Theo Lebesis added 7.
Tate Budnick took over the scoring in the second period for E-W, scoring eight points as the home team extended the lead to 46-25 heading into the break. Smarr added six more and Travis Bakken scored four in the period. Sophomore Dane Lewis had nine of his team-high 13 for Lake to lead the visitors.
The third quarter saw E-W extend their lead further, outscoring the Vikings 17-9. Bakken found some easy baskets underneath, leading the Warriors with eight points in the period.
The fourth quarter saw Warriors coach Call rest most of his regulars, but still E-W managed to extend the lead further, holding Lake to only four points in the quarter. Jordan Rice scored six points in the to lead the Warriors,
Smarr ended up tying his career high with 24 points to lead the Warriors in scoring. He also added five assists and five steals. Bakken was next with 13, followed closely by Budnick who scored 11 to go with his five assists. Sophomore Brady Edwards contributed 10 points along with seven rebounds. With the win, the Warriors move to 6-3 in the conference. Next up is a road game at Monroe this Tuesday .
