State 3A wrestling: Meadowdale’s Ball advances to semifinals in boys, Free in girls consolation round

Meadowdale’s Ciaran Ball advanced to the 3A semifinals after the first day of action Friday at Mat Classic XXVII in the Tacoma Dome.

Ball pinned both of his opponents in the Class 3A 195 division. His pin in the quarterfinals only took 33 seconds. Ball takes on Lincoln’s Aliyas Fletcher in the semifinals (scheduled for 11:10 a.m.).

Meadowdale’s Dee Dee Free won her first match by pin and then lost in the quarterfinals. Free rebounded with a pair of victories in the consolation bracket and will be wresting at 11:40 a.m. on Saturday.
