My Edmonds News Poll: Are you going to Seahawks championship parade in downtown Seattle Wednesday?

seahawksNearly everyone knows by now that a victory parade for the 2014 Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks is scheduled for downtown Seattle Wednesday. According to our online news partner The Seattle Times, the parade will start at 11 a.m. on Fourth Avenue, south of Denny Way, and will continue along Fourth, arriving at CenturyLink Field around 1:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to carpool or travel to the parade route using transit, as parking will be very limited.

Even though Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll suggested in a Monday morning press conference that kids should be allowed to skip school to attend the event, the Edmonds School District — like nearly all public schools in Puget Sound — will hold classes as usual on Wednesday.

That said, we are hearing many anecdotal reports of parents who plan to take their kids out of school anyway to attend the parade. No word yet from the district on whether that absence will be excused or unexcused.

  1. I lived in south Seattle when the Sonics won and yes, I took my children out of school so we could be at the parade. It was bedlam and it was wall-to-wall people and everyone was excited and well behaved. I thought about going to this one, but I’m not as fond of crowds as I used to be 🙂
