Edmonds resident David Vincent is competing in a stand-up paddle board race around Mercer Island in September — all for a good cause.
Vincent says this will be his first long-distance race. Called Round the Rock, it’s a 13-mile paddle around Mercer Island sponsored by Athletes 4 Cancer, “dedicated to enriching lives impacted by cancer through the healing power of the elements and outdoor adventure,” according to the event website.
“Cancer has had a profound impact on my family,” Vincent said, noting that his grandmother, uncle and cousin all died of the disease.
