It’s an enigma to me why dealerships continue to be allowed to multiply along 99. What a sterile landscape it has become.
When Willie Sutton, the infamous bank robber of the 30’s, was asked: Why do you rob banks? He replied: because that’s where the money is. Auto dealerships are where the money is for our city; they generate the vast majority of our badly needed sales tax revenue.
The recession which began in 2008 led to a downturn in auto sales in the US. Detroit Auto Works was one of several dealerships on Hwy. 99 that closed . I assume the free market place will determine future uses of these properties.
By the way, the Detroit Auto Works site is in Lynnwood.
