Will third time be a charm Tuesday night for filling vacant Edmonds City Council seat?

The Edmonds City Council is set to try a third time this Tuesday, March 11 to fill the Position 6 seat that has been vacant since the end of December.

After taking votes at two previous meetings that ended in a 3-3 deadlock, the council was scheduled to try again at its Feb. 25 meeting, but instead agreed to take a two-week break, giving councilmembers extra time to interview candidates in the pool of 14 who have applied.

The council has until March 31 to agree to a candidate; after that the decision goes to the Snohomish County Council.

The vote is on the agenda for 6 p.m., prior to council committee meetings that are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. In addition, at 5:15 p.m., the council will convene in executive session regarding potential litigation. The executive session is closed to the public and is scheduled to last approximately 45 minutes, followed by the regular meeting.
