Citizens Commission to take up salaries of Edmonds City Council, mayor Tuesday

On Thursday, April 3, and Thursday, April 17, the Citizens’ Commission on the Compensation of Elected Officials will hold a public hearing to discuss Edmonds City Council and/or Mayor salary/benefits for 2015 and/or 2016.

The public meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Police Department Training Room, Public Safety Complex, 250 5th Ave. N., Edmonds, Written comments are welcomed prior to or at the public hearing; oral testimony will also be taken.

  1. I did not go to the compensation meeting, but I have a novel concept. Let’s pay our council members based on a contingency fee – much like the rest of us consultants get paid. Pay minimum wage for the hours they work, then send out a survey, and based on their success in saving money, moving all of Edmonds forward, and getting legislation passed, we pay them a bonus. Success fees are always a good motivator to getting rid of gridlock.

    Personally, I am amazed Edmonds has been able to keep Mr. Earling this long, so keep paying him what it takes…Council on the other hand…
