Like a gentle breeze breathes life into sails on a boat, David Marty radiates a mood on his canvas. The Edmonds waterfront at sunset holds a special appeal for David – where in the quiet moments of dusk, the setting sun bathes the water, sky and marina in its golden light. He is excited to share his love for this beautiful scene. You’ll delight in his use of vibrant, freely brushed color. He powerfully blends realism and impressionism. Creativity is enhanced by his emphasis on overall effect instead of details, creating the opportunity for you to fill in with your imagination.
Working in oils on canvas, David credits plein air studies for improving his paintings. The oils are layered; starting thinly, he roughs the scene in, and then comes back again for further development. “It’s a real honor to be chosen by the Edmonds Arts Festival,” says David. “I hope you enjoy Evening at the Marina and my passion behind capturing the mood and essence of this moment in time.”

A long-time resident and contributor to our community and to the Edmonds Arts Festival, you can see more of David’s art locally at the Cole Gallery and Interiors of Edmonds. He is also represented in galleries in Coeur d’Alene, ID, Whitefish, MT, and Santa Fe, NM. His work has been juried into Oil Painters of America, C.M. Russell Art Auction, National Western Art Auction, Salon Int’l and Arts for the Parks Top 100 exhibits. His work is published by Artaissance and Grand Image. Visit his website at www.davidmarty.com
An exhibit of David’s original paintings will be shown in the EAF Foundation Gallery, located in the Frances Anderson Center, Main Entrance, 700 Main St., Edmonds. The exhibit will open to the public on Monday, June 9 and will conclude on July 30. It can be viewed during Festival hours on June 13-15, and regular Gallery hours: (Mon.– Fri., 9 to 7, Sat., 10 to 1) on other days. David will also have an artist booth on the field during the Festival. Come enjoy David’s work, and the work of all of our artists at the Edmonds Arts Festival.
