The Edmonds Arts Festival announced Friday that David Marty’s painting, “Evening at the Marina,” is the 2014 Edmonds Arts Festival poster. This image will be shown in the Festival advertisements, posters, website, and on specialty items in the Festival Store.
Here’s more from the Arts Festival announcement:
Like a gentle breeze breathes life into sails on a boat, David Marty radiates a mood on his canvas. The Edmonds waterfront at sunset holds a special appeal for David – where in the quiet moments of dusk, the setting sun bathes the water, sky and marina in its golden light. He is excited to share his love for this beautiful scene. You’ll delight in his use of vibrant, freely brushed color. He powerfully blends realism and impressionism. Creativity is enhanced by his emphasis on overall effect instead of details, creating the opportunity for you to fill in with your imagination.
Working in oils on canvas, David credits plein air studies for improving his paintings. The oils are layered; starting thinly, he roughs the scene in, and then comes back again for further development. “It’s a real honor to be chosen by the Edmonds Arts Festival,” says David. “I hope you enjoy Evening at the Marina and my passion behind capturing the mood and essence of this moment in time.”
