Edmonds police release sketch of suspect in attempted robbery, sexual assault

Edmonds police have released a sketch of the suspect in the attempted robbery and sexual assault of an Edmonds Community College exchange student who was attacked in the Lake Ballinger neighborhood last week.

According to Assistant Chief of Police Don Anderson, detectives worked with the victim and witness over the weekend to develop the composite sketch.

The student had just gotten off a Community Transit bus and was walking home when she was attacked around 6:30 p.m. Friday at 75th Avenue West and 230th Street Southwest. According to police, two passersby heard the victim’s cries for help and observed a male suspect running away.

The suspect was observed running west on 230th Street Southwest and then north along 76th Avenue West, getting into a white van and driving north, leaving the area on northbound Highway 99.

The suspect is described as a 35- to 40-year-old white male, approximately 5-9 to 6-feet tall, 180 lbs., clean shaven, wearing an orange jacket/hoodie, blue baseball cap and dark casual pants. The vehicle was described as a white Chevrolet van with a ladder rack on top without any ladders and with windows on the sides.
