Edmonds police seek suspect in attempted robbery, sexual assault

Edmonds police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man suspected of attempting to rob and sexually assault an Edmonds Community College exchange student after she got off the bus in the Lake Ballinger neighborhood early Thursday evening.

On April 17, 2014 at about 6:30 PM Edmonds Police were dispatched to an attempted robbery, sexual assault that occurred at 75th Ave W and 230th St SW. The victim, an exchange student with Edmonds Community College, had just gotten off a Community Transit Bus and was walking home when she was attacked. Two people happened to be passing by and heard the young lady’s cries for help and observed a male suspect running away. The male suspect was observed running west on 230th St SW then north along 76th Ave W, getting into a white van and driving north, leaving the area on northbound SR 99. The victim and witnesses were able to give a description of the male suspect and his vehicle. The suspect is described as a 35-40 year old white male, approximately 5’9” to 6’ in height, 180 lbs in weight, clean shaven, wearing an orange jacket/hoodie, blue baseball cap and dark casual pants. The vehicle that the suspect was described as getting into and driving away is a white Chevrolet Van with a ladder rack on top without any ladders and having windows on the sides.
